Jirall (Jill in the Japanese version) is the next Heir of the Rambaldt family, which is famous for having imperial blood on its lineage, but now is on decline, and the tertiary antagonist. He's engaged to Calista because of an arranged marriage. He looks down on everyone who isn't a noble or from a noble family. He sees them as commoners and only seeks to further his own position in society. He is vain and conceited. He intends to appear brave to others, but he is actually a complete coward. He hates Zael because he became close to Calista and saved her during the Gurak attack.
He is also rather perverted as he has a peeking hole in his room to spy on Calista, and also has Calista's Dress in his wardrobe, though he apparently stops his perverted ways after Zael catches him and takes back Calista's Dess and also because he never managed to peek at Calista as she was never in her room since Jirall arrives (other than get to get dressed for the ball, but Jirall was in the Ballroom at the time), and whenever she was, it was always spent crying, as well as his own growing hatred for Calista.
On many occasions he attempts to disfame Zael and send him to prison, but each time Calista and the others interfere and Zael is saved, further fuelling his hatred for the mercenary. He also is the one to accuse Zael of the murder of General Asthar.
In Chapter 38, Zael wakes up on a Gurak ship after searching for Calista in the Raging Ocean. He spots Calista on a nearby ship, but Jirall, possessed by the cursed sword Emperor, given to him by Zangurak, forces him to stay and fight.
This is one of the few one-on-one sword fights in the game, and the entire time Jirall is showing his insanity by shouting out crazy, murderous quotes. He calls out to his mummy, crying about how everyone's being mean, and he laughs insanely quite often. While his fighting style is wild and unrefined, the cursed aura of the Emperor sword grants him great strength and agility, allowing him to perform powerful skills like his Emperor Stab which slowly drains the targets health and his Counter Backslash which allows him to dodge his enemie's attack, getting behind his enemy to strike him on the back .
In the end, Jirall is defeated by Zael, and the Emporer sword floats up, then flies back down and impales him. He dies with the final words: "I just... I just wanted... to be happy..."
